Paul bought The Newcastle Arms Hotel in 1984 because he'd always wanted to own an hotel. He embarked upon a refurbishment programme spanning four years, resulting in increased capacity and increased trade.
The hotel, situated in the heart of Tuxford, was regarded as one of the best hotels in the area.
A corporate racehorse called Tuxford Hideaway, named after one of the hotel's bars, was a novel way of promoting the hotel. The photo below shows Tuxford Hideaway winning at Redcar.
